On Saturday, August 29th the Warren County Department of Fire and Rescue Services partnered with the Winchester Office of the American Red Cross and members of the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps-FEMA Corps to conduct its annual Smoke Alarm Door-to-Door Campaign. This event took place in an area of Front Royal that has seen an increased response to fire related incidents over the past calendar year.
During this 4 hour event:
- 145 homes were visited
- An estimated 435 citizens received educational materials
- 55 homes; representing 122 occupants participated in the program
- 133 existing smoke alarms were checked
- 114 smoke alarms were provided due to dead, missing or non-existent smoke alarms were found
