SteamTurbinePhotoThe heaviest single piece of equipment for the Warren County Power Station – the steam turbine generator stator – arrived by rail Monday at the Virginia Inland Port a few miles from the station construction site.  The journey from Norfolk Southern’s Lamberts Point Docks in Norfolk is a four-day rail trip across Virginia. The stator, the largest object ever unloaded at Lamberts Point, weighs 401 tons; it is more than 14 feet in diameter, almost 40 feet long and just more than 20 feet tall sitting on the rail car. The high-pressure and intermediate-pressure section of the steam turbine, which also was also on the special train, weighs 151 tons and is 27 feet long.
