Douglas P. “Doug” Stanley is the County Administrator for Warren County, Virginia; a post he has held since April 2000. Doug began his career with Warren County in 1994 when he became the County’s first full-time Zoning Administrator. He was appointed to Planning Director in 1996 before being appointed interim County Administrator in April 2000.
Doug is a member of the International City Management Association (ICMA), Virginia Local Government Management Association (VLGMA), American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and American Planning Association (APA).
While serving with the County Doug has been recognized with the Special Service Award and Local Government Award – by the Friends of the Shenandoah River for working to protect the Shenandoah River, with the Arts Citizen of the Year by the Blue Ridge Arts Council in bringing the arts to public spaces, and by the North Warren Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company with its Special Appreciation Award for working on a public-private partnership to construct a district fire and rescue station.
Doug has served on the following community boards:
Doug has a B.A. in Geography from Mary Washington College, a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration from Shenandoah University. He is also a graduate of the Senior Executive Institute at the University of Virginia – Weldon Cooper Center.
A Virginia native, Doug lives in Front Royal, Virginia in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley with his wife Jenny, daughter Jenna and son Whill.
