Warren County will be implementing the final phase of the security upgrades at the Historic Warren County Courthouse located at 1 East Main Street in downtown Front Royal. The $146,000 project will entail the reconstruction and replacement of a wider sidewalk along Royal Avenue, installation of security bollards along the Royal Avenue parameter, and the removal and replacement of hedges and shrubbery at the facility’s main entrance. The Courthouse will remain open during the project. Its normal business hours are Monday – Friday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
The project is being constructed by Lantz Construction Company of Broadway, Virginia and is expected to take approximately 60 days to complete. During construction, certain areas of the Courthouse grounds and sidewalks will be closed to the public. Detour signage will be put in place to help guide visitors around the work areas. In addition, motorists may expect delays along Royal Avenue at certain times of the day when sidewalks are being replaced.
According to Deputy County Administrator, Bob Childress, “The County is excited to finally get this job started. The completed project will not only improve security of the facility but will make access along Royal Avenue much more convenient and safer for visitors to the Courthouse. Based on previous projects Lantz Construction Company has completed for the County, we feel confident they will complete these improvements as quickly as possible with the least disruption possible to Courthouse operations. We ask visitors to be alert of the construction activities when visiting the Courthouse and we regret any delays they may encounter.”
The project is expected to get started the week of August 6th.
