Letter from the County Administrator - Winter 2013

This past year was an important year for the Shenandoah Farms Sanitary District.  As most residents and property owners know, the Shenandoah Farms Subdivision was laid out on paper and was never “engineered” to any design standard.  As a result, it lacks adequate ditching and culverts to handle stormwater, which makes maintenance of the gravel roads an ongoing struggle.  The completion and adoption of the of the Road and Drainage Study by PHR&A at the end of 2012 has provided the Sanitary District with a blueprint for the future.  It identifies the ultimate drainage needs including location and sizing of culverts and ditches to handle the anticipated build-out of the community.  As we move forward with upgrading and replacement of culverts and ditching, we will be meeting the future needs of the road system.  It is our plan to begin this implementation in 2013.

Road and Drainage Study for Shenandoah Farm Sanitary District Complete

We are pleased to inform the citizens of the Shenandoah Farms community their Road and Drainage Study has been completed.  This long awaited Study will be used as a guiding tool in the future maintenance and construction activities within the Sanitary District.  A Final Draft has been provided to the POSF Board for review.  Additionally, a copy is available for public inspection at the County Administration Office in the Warren County Government Center, 220 North Commerce Avenue, Suite 100, Front Royal, Virginia 22630  Monday – Friday 9:00 AM  - 5:00 PM.  A copy of the text of the document, without project maps and backup data, can also be viewed by CLICKING HERE.  A final citizens information meeting on the Road and Drainage Study was held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 7:00 PM at the Government Center.   After the meeting, citizens were given a 30 day window to provide comments for possible inclusion into the study.  The time period for submitting comments ended on Friday, August 17th and County staff is now reviewing the comments for possible inclusion in the final document.
