Letter from the County Administrator - Winter 2013
This past year was an important year for the Shenandoah Farms Sanitary District. As most residents and property owners know, the Shenandoah Farms Subdivision was laid out on paper and was never “engineered” to any design standard. As a result, it lacks adequate ditching and culverts to handle stormwater, which makes maintenance of the gravel roads an ongoing struggle. The completion and adoption of the of the Road and Drainage Study by PHR&A at the end of 2012 has provided the Sanitary District with a blueprint for the future. It identifies the ultimate drainage needs including location and sizing of culverts and ditches to handle the anticipated build-out of the community. As we move forward with upgrading and replacement of culverts and ditching, we will be meeting the future needs of the road system. It is our plan to begin this implementation in 2013. |
