Refuse Collection, Disposal and Recycle Overview Below you will find a chart that details what waste and/or recycling items are accepted at each of the County sites. Household Hazardous Waste Refuse Collection and Disposal - Citizen Convenience Sites A valid Warren County, Town of Front Royal, or Waste Decal must be displayed (permanently affixed) in order to dispose of waste and/or recycling materials. Since the refuse sites are funded by the tax payers of Warren County, those bearing out-of-area decals will not be permitted to use the facilities without a permission letter from the Solid Waste Department. The department issues permission letters on a case-by-case basis in order to limit misuse. You can fill out a Special Permission Request Form and submit it through this website, or you can contact our Administration Office located in Suite 100 of the Warren County Government Center, (540) 636-4600. Convenience Sites for Household Waste Disposal and Recycling Waste from commercial enterprises, businesses, contractors, non-residents or any source other than residential/household is prohibited at the Convenience locations. For hire residential haulers must go to the Bentonville site. We do not accept tires, furniture, computers, carpet, construction debris or large items at the convenience sites. Locations (click here to view a map of the five locations) Hours of Operation Location The Bentonville Convenience Site is located at the Warren County Transfer Station (9.2 miles south of the junction of South Street to Route 613, left on 613 for 2.2 miles, then right on Route 730). Depositing waste requires a valid Warren County, Town of Front Royal, or Waste decal. Depositing without a valid decal is prohibited and Site Attendants are required to verify residency. Residential Household Trash: Hours of Operation Construction/Demolition Debris: Hours of Operation and Procedure Other Charges (cash, check, Visa, and Mastercard accepted) Tires Paint Residents may drop off up to six gallons of paint per day free of charge. Normal tipping fees will apply to loads larger than six gallons. Farm Animals Dead farm animals may be disposed of for $67.00 per ton. Yard Waste/Stumps/Brush Unacceptable Waste Authorized Waste (accepted at no charge, please notify the attendant for instruction) Warren County Transfer Station The Warren County Transfer Station is located at the site of the closed Warren County Landfill. All waste deposited at Convenience sites and Commercial waste is transported to the Transfer Station in Bentonville for disposal to a landfill outside of Warren County. The Transfer Station operates under the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Permit by Rule #33 and operations are inspected by DEQ. In addition to Transfer Station duties, personnel oversee the maintenance of the closed landfill site, gas monitoring and water monitoring. The closed landfill is also operated under DEQ permit, with engineering oversight provided by Joyce Engineering, Inc. Commercial Customers Only (non-residential): Hours of Operation Commercial waste generated in Warren County is charged at $67.00 per ton. Other fees may apply such as tires in load, special clean-up for liquids, etc. Payments may be made at the Scale House in the form of cash, check, or credit card (Visa or Mastercard). Citizen Convenience Sites
Warren County offers five citizens' locations throughout the County to dispose of household waste and recycle. Bagged household waste may be disposed of at all locations, while large, bulky items other than scrap metal must be taken directly to the Bentonville Site. Recycling centers are available at all locations with the exception of the Shenandoah Farms Compactor site. Please note that all loads should be secured to prevent littering accidents. Site attendants are required to inspect all loads and enforce Warren County Policy.
Recycling containers set up at the following Convenience Site locations: Route 522/340, Route 340 South, and Linden. There are no recycling containers at the Shenandoah Farms site. Items accepted for recycling at the convenience sites include:

Transfer Station

All tipping floor customers should be scaled in by 2:30 pm in order to allow for the required floor clean up. Please call prior to your arrival if you are in route at or near 2:30 pm. The telephone number for the scale house is (540) 635-7722.
