Description of the Facility
The former Samuels Public Library, located at 538 Villa Avenue, was renovated for conversion to the Warren County Community Center and opened to the public in January 2011. This facility will be utilized by the Warren County Parks and Recreation Department and the Warren County Public Schools system.
The completed facility includes a music classroom that seats thirty, three small classrooms each seating twelve, a computer lab that seats ten, two large classrooms that seat thirty-seven at tables, and an assembly room that seats eighty assembly style. The five classrooms and computer lab each have interactive SMART boards installed and the assembly hall has a ceiling mounted projector with screen. Operable partitions separate the assembly room from each of the large classrooms. When the operable partitions are opened the collective areas of the assembly room and two classrooms are combined to form a single large space. Support spaces consist of a lobby/reception space, two private offices, and an open office area with five workstations, a break room and restrooms.
Use of the Facility
The Warren County Parks and Recreation Department will be using the building to house many of its existing programs including classes teaching Spanish, painting, and square dancing, along with their Music for Little program and CPR classes. Some of the new programs that the department hopes to offer will include topics such as tot tumbling, little gym, photography, scrapbooking and a summer daycare program.
The Warren County Public School System intends to use the facility for the following functions: the Right Turn Program, Gifted/Talented Enrichment Activities, tutoring of students, and for their Teacher and Parent (TAP) Center.
Reservations
Parks and Recreation staff is now taking reservations for the Warren County Community Center building for group and club meetings during regular building hours. The facility operates Monday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Reservations must be made by coming to the Community Center, they will not be taken over the phone. There is a required $100.00 refundable deposit to be paid the day the reservation is made. The rental fee varies depending on which room you will be using and there are daily and hourly rates available. Don't forget to sign your children up for the Summer Care Programs being offered through our Parks and Recreation Department! Two sessions are available for kids 5 to 11 years old, each with a morning and afternoon program. Registration began on April 2nd and only 50 children will be accepted per program, per session.
