November 18, 2013 (Commission on Local Government)

The Commission on Local Government will hold hearings in the Front Royal area on November 18, 2013 as part of its review of the proposed voluntary settlement agreement between the Town of Front Royal and Warren County.  The proposed agreement provides for the incorporation of certain territory into the Town of Front Royal, such territory generally located to the northeast of the current town limits; arrangements for the future land use and zoning requirements for such territory, to include the acceptance of certain proffered conditions upon the rezoning of such territory; and for other matters.
 
The Commission’s schedule of hearings is as follows:
 
PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS by representatives of the Town of Front Royal and Warren County will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013 in the County Board of Supervisors Room in the Warren County Government Center located at 220 North Commerce Avenue in Front Royal, Virginia.
 
PUBLIC HEARING for the receipt of testimony from the public and other affected parties will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013 in the County Board of Supervisors Room in the Warren County Government Center located at 220 North Commerce Avenue in Front Royal, Virginia. Any person wishing to testify before the Commission at the public hearing may register in advance through the Commission’s offices at (804) 786-6508 / Virginia Relay 7-1-1 or zachary.robbins@dhcd.virginia.gov.
 
Sections 15.2-2907 and 15.2-3400 of the Code of Virginia require the Commission on Local Government to hold hearings, make in- vestigations, analyze local needs and make findings of facts and recommendations on certain proposed interlocal agreements. The above-cited presentations and public hearing are being held in conjunction with the Commission’s review of the proposed voluntary settlement agreement between the Town of Front Royal and Warren County. At the conclusion of its review, the Commission is required to report, in writing, its findings and recommen- dations as to whether the proposed agreement is in the best interest of the Commonwealth.
 
Copies of the proposed agreement between the two jurisdictions, a map of the area proposed for annexation, and other material and data submitted to the Commission by the Town of Front Royal and Warren County relative to the impact of the proposed agreement, along with copies of the Commission on Local Government’s regulations pertinent to this review, will be available to the public for examination in the Town Administration Building (102 East Main Street) and in the County Administrator’s office in the Warren County Government Center (220 North Commerce Avenue) during normal working hours.
