County Administrator Tenders Resignation

Warren County Board of Supervisors Chairman Walt Mabe announced today that Douglas P. Stanley has tendered his resignation effective July 31, 2020.

Mr. Stanley has been employed with the County since December 19, 1994, and has served as the County Administrator since April 1, 2000. The Board of Supervisors also announced the appointment of Dr. Edwin C. Daley, ICMA-CM, as interim County Administrator effective August 3, 2020.

Daley, ICMA-CM, as interim County Administrator effective August 3, 2020.Mr. Stanley has a B.A. in Geography from the University of Mary Washington, a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a graduate certificate in Public Management from Shenandoah University. He is also a graduate of the Senior Executive Institute at the University of Virginia and is an ICMA Credentialed Manager. He began his career in 1994 with Warren County as the County’s first full-time Zoning Administrator. In April of 1996, he was promoted to Planning Director and served in a dual capacity as Planning Director and County Administrator until July 1, 2008.

BOS Chairman Walt Mabe said, “We appreciate Mr. Stanley’s service to the Warren County community over the past 25 years. He has many wonderful accomplishments that have helped make Warren County a great place to live, work, and visit. We wish him the best as he continues with the next step in his career.” Mr. Mabe further noted that the County will begin the search for a replacement with the assistance of Dr. Daley.
